Festering Wounds

Physical wounds are detrimental to health. They ought to be treated and not left to heal on its own. When left to fester, pus forms on wounds which soon turn gangrenous .The body is poisoned and maggots probably soon appear. The wound soon gives out a stench and the body is on the pathway to ill health.

How often it is the same with our soul. We carry 'cans of festering hurts' in our soul afflicted by circumstances; people who should have loved us but fail to do so and the unintentional acts of others that was never carried out to hurt. And along the pathway of inevitable associating with others in our daily lives, people rub us and open up the forgotten wounds that were covered through the busyness of life but were never healed. Painful circumstances are actually opportune times to make changes. We could dress those wounds with the balm of forgiveness , let them heal and then give the body strength to move on with the bigger picture of the life God has prepared for us. If we choose not to do, the wounds continue to fester deeper, the soul and also very soon, the body falls sick and people soon sense the stench of brokenness in us.

Ananias was afraid of the festering wounds inflicted by Paul upon the Christians. But he was a listening christian. He told God his fears about Paul when asked to meet up with the man and prayed for him. God showed him the bigger picture and Paul received his sight.

How dangerous and devastating it is to leave our wounds to fester. We not only die, but those around us too.

Bring ye all your 'cans of wounds, hardships and pain'. if they be opened up , get them dressed, healed and move on. There is a bigger picture to behold beyond licking your wounds in self-pity.
