Challenging Moments

The economic turbulence seems getting from bad to worse. News on corporate fallout and government bailout are sweeping across every nation in the world. A lot of financial analyst are expecting for something really bad. Something far more worse than the crash in the 80's and 90's. I am not an economist but I read a lot of articles to understand the situation. The impact of the crisis seems starting to reach to ordinary people. Job loses, high inflation, factory closure, suicide, robbery, share market crash and other sad news are occupying our headlines today. Simply talking to my mum, I understand how high the price of good has gone up.

People are living in anxiety and fear. A lot of people are fearful of what will happen tomorrow. God only knows how deep and how long this bumpy ride will be. However, we have access to a peace that passes all understanding. I know it is easier said than done but I really pray that God will give all of us that supernatural peace and that we can say with confident - “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

Let us be wise like Joseph (Genesis 47) who stores up goods in anticipation of severe drought and famine. And when the drought really come, we are able to help our family and friends. Sometime it is worth to save the extra that we have from spending unnecessarily.

May the peace of God rule in our heart - "Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts" (Col 3:15 NLT).

Be blessed.
