Brazen Altar

We are going through the study on the Tabernacle of Moses in our Youth Impact meeting. Last Saturday was my turn to share on the topic of "The Significant of the Brazen Altar" based on Exodus 27:1-8 & 38:1-7. It is a very interesting subject and there are lots of spiritual truth in this study. Do you know that the bible has only 2 chapters covering the topic of creation but 50 chapters covering the topic of tabernacle? Interesting right!!!

Here are some points for reflection:

1. The Brazen Altar is the first artifact that the Israelite will see when they enter into the tabernacle. . Before we could come into the presence of the Holy God, we need to deal with the issue of sin. It simply talks about coming to the throne of grace with a heart of repentance.

2. The Brazen Altar is the largest artifact in the tabernacle. This simply describe the heart of forgiveness of our Father in Heaven (John 3:16) He is ever willing to forgive us and His grace is abundance for us.

3. The Brazen Altar is used for the sacrifice of animal that is used as an atonement of sin. In the old testament days, the Jews are required to bring animal sacrifice as a sin offering. In the New Testament, Jesus died once for all for all our sins. He is our ultimate sacrifice (Hebrew 10:10-14). One point to note here is that the animal sacrifice in the old testament differs from the ultimate sacrifice offered by Jesus. The animal sacrifice is only able to cover our sin but the blood of Jesus, remove our sins (1 John 4:10).

4. The Brazen Altar has 4 horns pointing upward and outward on each other. The horns has two purpose. One of it's purpose is to tied down the animal. The other purpose is for salvation. Israelites who are in trouble would flee and take hold of the horns on the brazen altar (1 King 1:50-51). It is a place of salvation (Exodus 21:13-14). The horn talks about salvation (Luke 1:69 & Psalms 18:2). Love bounds Jesus on the cross (John 10:8). He is our ultimate horn of salvation.

Friends, the fire in the brazen altar must be always available. Jesus is ever ready to forgive us and provide a hope and salvation for us. Jesus has made a way for us to come to the Father anytime to seek His forgiveness, grace and mercy.

Be Blessed.
