Youth Impact - A Heart of Giving

I love working with the young people in our church. Working with young people makes us younger and actually do slow down our aging process. I have been working with them over two years now. They are a great group of young people with a big heart.

The youth in our church call themselves Youth Impact. They live up to their name by impacting their peers, their community and the society at large.

I am so blessed to see in the recent years, the youths have rise up and play a pivotal role in the church activities. From music, to drama, to serving food in our community project, they are there to provide their skills and ability.

I was sharing in the Youth Impact meeting on 13th December 2008. It was our last meeting for the year 2008. While preparing the message, the Lord spoke clearly to challenge the youth to give and bless the underprivileged children in our city. Our God works in an awesome way. He told me clearly, "Vive, challenge them and you be a part of it. Every dollar they gave, you give a dollar". Wow....I told Lord, I will obey to your voice.

During the Youth Meeting, I challenge the young people to give their best in this season of Christmas for a good course. I give them just a day to collect and told them give as the Lord inspire them. We decided the collection will start on Sunday 14th December 2008 from 10.00a.m till 12.30p.m. In my own limited mind, I was thinking they will raise around RM300 to RM350. The Lord proves me that I am wrong. The Youth Impact collected around RM905 within 2 hours of collection. I was in a state amazement to see the heart of giving among the young people of our church.

With RM1810 in hand, we gave the freedom to the Youth Impact leaders to go and buy gifts for two children homes in Penang. On 20th December 2008, we went over to the Children Protection Center and Salvation Army Children Home and bless them with the gifts from our young people. It is a joy indeed to bless someone during this season of giving.

I feel such a joy because I see the heart of giving in our young people. They are willing to give their very best so that the name of the Lord will be lifted up.

A big THANK YOU to all of you in Youth Impact. You have really proved your heart of giving. I am amazed. I sure you bring a big smile to our God and to the children in the two homes. A special thanks to Yi Lin and Melissa for buying the gifts and packing it nicely. Thank you to Aaron, Desywn, Nic, Sue Lin and others who joined us in the delivery of the gifts and spending time with the kids at the home.

2009 Resolution

Started to reflect on what I want to do for the coming new year. I am sure many of us are reflecting our 2008 resolutions and it's achievement and at the same time writing down our new resolution for 2009. Well it is good to have plans.

As for me, I am seeking the Lord on His plans for our lives (both me and my wife). I wonder where the Lord will lead us next. I truly believe the year 2009 would bring some changes to our lives. The greatest desire I have is to walk and live in accordance to my Heavenly Father's will. Proverbs 19:21 says "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand." There are wishes and dreams that I hope for in 2008. Some came to past and some is yet to be answered. I believe God will answer in His time. I am excited of 2009. I know the Lord has lots of things in place for us in the coming year.

As we approach 2009, let's us reflect on the goodness of the Lord in our lives for the year 2008. The Lord has good things prepared for us. Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

Back to Penang

Yesterday was one of the longest drive I had from Kuantan to Penang. Took us almost 8 hours with one coffee break at Tapah rest area. Rain was one of the reason for the slow down. It was raining heavily along the PLUS highway. Anyway, I enjoyed the drive as Ps. Geoffrey and Felicia was travelling along with us. We had good conversation and good laugh along the way.

Overall it was memorable trip for me and my wife as we manage to meet up with a lot of church friends in Kuantan. I have not met some of them for ages. Some who were once in their 20's/30's have already shown sign of ageing. Met some of young kids of the church who have grown up and some even have started to work. It is good to visit back my home church, Grace Charismatic Center. Many of us left Kuantan after completing our high school in pursuit of further studies and work and many of us settle down elsewhere.

The beauty of Christian friendship is even after such a long time you have not met someone, the moment you see the person, the whole friendship will be rekindled. What a joy!!!!!

Now, here I am back in the rat race. Catching up on datelines, managing people and their expectation. Trying my best to spend the rest remaining days of 2008 to the fullest.

The depths of God's word

Today I had the privilege of sitting down with two great men of God and listening to their discussion on the account of creation as recorded in Genesis. I count it a great privilege indeed. So many truth and revelation was shared. One thing I know for sure, their deep understanding and experiences comes from the many hours that they spent in meditating on the word of God. One of them told us that they spend about one year on reading and meditating Genesis Chapter 1 to 6.

One thing I have learned, as we seek the Lord and ask of Him to reveal the meaning of His word, He will bring into revelation the deep truth of His word. I believe that is why the word of God says in Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you".

Psalms 25:14 says "The secret of the LORD is for those who fear Him, And He will make them know His covenant." Those who want to know God and His truth seek God by his ancient eternal word in the Bible. He will reveal Himself to them and give them His promised blessings because they respect Him above all others. God has shown you his love by giving you His word so we may know the right way.

God says, Isa. 45:19: “I have not spoken in secret, In a dark place of the earth; I did not say to the seed of Jacob, 'Seek Me in vain'; I, the LORD, speak righteousness”

I pray that as we approach a brand new year, let it be one of our resolution to read and meditate on His word and go deeper in understand His word.

The best sms Christmas wishes

I have been receiving tons of Christmas wishes via sms since Christmas eve. A big Thank You to all of you who have sent Christmas wishes via sms to me and wife. We are so blessed. I am sure that the telco companies in Malaysia are having big fat smile as every single sms adds profit to their business. Hope they can join the spirit of Christmas and gives some good discount or rebate to their loyal customers.

One of the best sms I received this year was from Ps. Albert Ong. Here is the sms:

The Best Christmas eCard

It is Christmas day. Here I am blogging from my parent's home. Thanks to my new Celcom broadband service that gives me the luxury of surfing the Internet while I am traveling.....

Nowadays everyone resort into sending eCard. Gone are the days of traditional Christmas greeting cards send via snail mail (refering to our good old postal service). Today I want to reflect upon an interesting eCard that I have seen this Christmas from DaySpring. It contains a nice flash animation with a poem written by Holley Gerth. Wet Christmas Eve

Here I am.....back to my good old hometown, Kuantan which is located in the state of Pahang.. Been a wet Christmas eve as the three states in East Cost of Peninsular Malaysia are experiencing Monsoon weather. Well, the Monsoon weather that I know during my childhood days are totally different compare to Monsoon today. Those days, it use to rain continuous for couple of days. There are times when we have no shirts and pants since all our clothing are wet and not able to dry fast. Nowadays, due to the Green house effect, Monsoon is much different with rains during certain hours but yet it can devastating with rising water level.

Anyway, since it is Christmas time, my focus and attention are geared up in celebrating the birth of the only Savior of mankind, Jesus Christ. May His love fills your heart this season. Thus says the Lord: "... I have loved you with an everlasting love." Jer 31:3

It has been a rough year with lots of sad stories especially on the latest economic turmoil that has affected many. Nevertheless, I still believe there is hope in this Christmas because Jesus brought hope into our hopelessness. This season of holiday, let us celebrate the things that we have. Let us count our blessings.

The true meaning of Christmas

Santa Claus (also known as Santa, Father Christmas) and Christmas is almost becoming a synonym nowadays. When some talks about Christmas, a lot of people will never miss Santa Claus. Dear friends, Christmas is not about Santa Claus but it is about Jesus Christ, our Lord and God who came to earth as man and die for us so that we can live and rescued from eternal condemnation.

The original Santa is actually known as Saint Nicholas was apparently a godly man who helped the poor and oppressed during the 4th century. He lived in the town of Myra in what is now southern Turkey and was the Bishop of the local Catholic church. If he were around today, I'll bet he would be shocked to see how the celebration of his legacy has been greatly embellished and how it has in many ways eclipsed the birthday of Jesus.

The theme of Christmas is also being distorted with lots of marketing gimmicks. I have even seen an hotel advertisement that states "Come and enjoy the fairy tale of Christmas". I call up the hotel and spoke to the customer relation officer and reminded them that Christmas is not a fairy tale but it is true account of the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Star had an article today with the headline "‘Father Christmas’ turning teens into samsu addicts". It is a story about how irresponsible people are taking advantage of the season of Hope by bringing hopelessness, and in this case, to the young generation. According to the article, they label the "samsu" or also known as distilled spirits as "Father Christmas" and sell it to the public. The alcohol drinks are being consumed by schoolchildren as they are readily available at sundry shop. It cost between RM1.50 and RM3 for a 150ml bottle which is within their weekly allowance.

Satan is trying his very best to blind mankind from the true meaning of Christmas. In the case of "Father Christmas", he even brings physical blindness. We need to pray like never before and we need to show the world that Jesus is the true reason for Christmas.

There's no Christmas without Jesus. It's to Him our eyes should see. Not to jolly old Saint Claus nor a glittering Christmas tree!

Christmas - A renewal of hope

The world's definition of Christmas is nothing more than parties, shopping, gifts, Christmas tree and Santa Claus. Many will spend the holiday season drinking, partying and all sort of other activities. But for Christians, it is a reminder of the the hope that Christ has brought to mankind.

Since the fall of mankind, sin has separated us from a holy God. God seemed distant, hidden in the Most Holy Place of the Tabernacle and only accessible to the high priest. Others would not even have chance to experience the presence of God nor assure of their salvation.

But God the Father who loves us since creation, bring us hope through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Christ brings hope to mankind. Even if we are struggling through the disappointments of life, if we have Jesus, we have hope. And He is not a childish fairy tale that we wish will have a happy ending. When Christ rose from the dead, that ended the argument of hopelessness. Period. Our hope in Him is solid and it is real.

The Psalmist says in Psalms 33:22 "May Your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in You." Christmas is a renewal of that hope. It reconfirms it for us if our vision has grown dim. It was settled 2000 years ago in Calvary, so we don't have to doubt any more. Jesus is the fulfillment of our hope, our deepest longings come true.

Let me encourage you with Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Let hope arise in us today.

Immanuel - God with us

Throughout the New Testament, Jesus was given many names. Each of these names reflects a different facet of His character and helps us understand who He really is. Of all the names that were given to Him, none brings more comfort to my heart than Immanuel—God with us. Immanuel gives me the assurance that God is with me all the time. In my joy and in my sorrow.

The name Immanuel was recorded in Matthew 1:22-23 "All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 'The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel' - which means, 'God with us.'".
The angel was telling Mary and Joseph that the child she would bear would be God Himself coming down to live among men. By the way, Matthew 1:22-23 is the fulfillment of the Old Testament promise in Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel."

Do you believe that God is with us all the time? We turn to God quickly during our time of sorrow and despair. Unfortunately, many times, we forget about Him in times of joy and rejoicing. Although He promise to be with us, we mostly seek for Him when we are in trouble, in fear or in struggle. If God is the giver of joy and He is "God with us," then He must want to share in those moments of great joy - and even those times of silly laughter and fun. Bible scholars tell us that the when the Bible speaks of God dwelling among men it literally means “He pitched His tent” among us. It literally means that He came to live right where we do.

As we approach Christmas in 9 days time, let us remember - "Immanuel ... God with us." What more does Christmas need to be to me? To you? All we need is Jesus. He is more than enough this Christmas. Let us ask him to help us focus less on our holiday agendas, as we spend more time at his feet worshiping Christ, our King.

Grace of Giving

It is 10 days to go before Christmas. One of the greatest lesson we can learn from Christmas is about the Grace of Giving. God the Father gave us His only begotten Son so that we will not perish but have eternal life. The promise hope for mankind that mention as early as in Genesis and in the book of Isaiah comes to fulfillment when Jesus was born in a humble manger so that he can be accessible to all mankind, from the shepherd to the wise men.

Christmas is a time where we bless others with gifts. But above all, I trust the Lord is looking at our heart. It is the attitude of giving that the Lord is looking at in our heart.

Paul in his second letter to the Corinthian Christians describe about the grace of giving among the Macedonian Christian (2 Corinthians 8:1-12). He was using them as an example to the Corinth church. During that time, the church in Jerusalem was going through difficult moments. There was famine and a great deal of poverty in Jerusalem. In response, the apostle Paul spent close to ten years taking up a collection for the needy in Jerusalem. Paul says despite severe trial and extreme poverty, the Macedonian gave to the needs of their brethrens in Jerusalem out of overflowing joy. The poverty of the Macedonians is confirmed by secular history. The Romans took most of their wealth when they conquered this former homeland of Alexander the Great. They were so motivated by their dedication to Christ, their love for fellow believers, and the joy of helping others that they opened up their hearts and wallets and gave generously.

In a world of self-centeredness, this doesn't make any human sense. I believe when we experienced the grace of God in our lives, we won't use difficult circumstances in our lives as an excuse not to give. I believe that is what defined as the grace of giving. Giving is a work of God’s grace in us. The Macedonian Christians did not just give but the bible records that they gave enthusiastically – they actually pleaded to give to God. What an awesome grace of giving in them!!!

As Christmas is approaching near, let us look around us and see if there is a need where we can exercise the grace of giving. There maybe someone who is in need. Why not offer our life and our resources so that His name will be glorified.

Shine for Jesus

Recently I came across the testimony of a great footballer of our time, Kaka. A Brazilian play maker who plays professionally for AC Milan in Italy was named the World Player of the Year by FIFA on 17th December 2007. There is an amazing testimony about this man and how he honor God in his job. His faith is so much a part of him, and he carries it so naturally that the secular press, whenever writing about him, almost without fail mentions that he is a "devout Christian".

This what Kaka or his fullname Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite said in an interview with Reuters after he receive the Best Player award:

"Tonight is really special for me," said Kaka, who helped Milan to their seventh European Cup title in May and was also inspirational in Sunday's 4-2 Club World Cup final victory over Argentina's Boca Juniors. "When I was young I dreamed of playing for Sao Paulo and playing just one game for the national team. That was it...but the Bible says God gives us more than we ask for and that is what has happened in my life."

Kaka defies the model of a modern footballer. The 26 year old chooses to let his football make the headlines, not for his own glory but for the name of the Lord to be lifted up. Kaka, a devout Christian, largely avoids celebrity parties and does not worry too much about his image, expressing himself on the pitch with mesmeric skill and driving runs. I am sure if you have watch the movie Goal, you will get a picture how is the life of professional football players.

He glorified God in the even when he achieve the highest achievement a footballer can achieve in his career. He does not let success go to his head or subscribed to the hedonism that many famous players are notorious for.

I like the other statement that he made to an Italian press. Here is what reported by the press: "Kaka says life as an evangelical pastor appeals to him after football. But football is his calling now."

Proverbs 3:1-6 says: "My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, For they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.Let love and faithfulness never leave you; Bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

What an amazing testimony. Do we see our job as our calling? I believe God has placed us in strategic places to bring glory and honor to His name.

Breaking the Limit

In 1903, Harry Andrews, a British Olympic coach, stated, “The mile record is 4 minutes 12.75 seconds. This record will never be broken.” There was a fierce intellectual debate that the human body had reached its full potential. Proof was offered based of the analysis of the anatomy of the body that a human being could not run a mile any faster than 4 minutes and 12.75 seconds.

In 1954, Roger Banister became the first person to break the 4 minute mile barrier. He sprinted to the finish line in 3 minutes and 59.4 seconds. In that that same year, 2 other people ran 4 minute miles, too, right after him. And the next year, a phenomenal 236 people also did what was considered impossible! And since then, new record has been set and broken and set. Interestingly, today the record stands at 3 minutes, 43 seconds set in Rome in 1999, by Hicham El Guerrouj of Morocco – a full 17 seconds less than set by Roger Bannister!

Roger Banister took what was accepted as a brick wall limit and pushed it in the ditch. His proof that it could be done mentally cleared the way for others to also “do the impossible.” Roger Banister broke the barrier.

In similar fashion we today are capable of limiting God whenever we refuse to allow God to act in ways that exceed our imagination, understanding or comfort zones. We set barriers and sometimes this barriers comes from the negative words and the discouragement that we had before. We limit God whenever we restrict God to what is familiar and comfortable for us. Even though we may profess God can perform miracles, the reality is we frequently have doubts when viewed in specific circumstances. Unfortunately, in such instances both God and we are the less for our disbelief.

The key fundamental for breaking barrier is Faith. The author of the book of Hebrews says “To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see.” (11:1) Faith in action is not always rational, familiar or comfortable. Frequently faith requires us to step beyond what is recognizable and believe in what is hidden from our eyes.

I pray we approach a brand new year, 2009, let's seek the Lord to grow into greater heights in our relationship with the Lord and in our ministry. Let 2009 be a year of Breaking the Limit.

Nocompromise

For months Eric Liddel trained as a track athlete for the purpose of winning the 100 meter race in the Olympics of 1924. Sports writers all over the country predicted that Liddel would win the 100 meters. And then he learned that the 100 meter race in 1924 in the Olympics was scheduled for Sunday. This posed a problem. Eric believed that he could not honor God by running in the contest on the Lord’s day. His fans were stunned by his refusal. Some who had praised him began to call him a fool and the press laughed at Eric Liddel because he wouldn’t run on Sunday.

Suddenly, a runner dropped out of the 400 meter race and they had no alternate to take his place and it was scheduled for a week day. Eric offered to fill the slot even though this is four times as long as the race he had trained to run. When he ran the race, Eric Liddel won the race. In 1924, "The Flying Scotsman" had a gold medal and a world record, 47.6 seconds. Incredible time. Most important of all, Eric Liddell had kept his commitment to his convictions of faith. And he was a winner. Later, Eric Liddel went to China as a missionary and in 1945 he died there serving the Lord...ever as uncompromising as he had been before.

Does every man have his price? Will everyone of us sell out at some point or another? Do all of us have moral standards that are only valid insofar as they accommodate our desires? Or, do we then when we have a greater desire, set it aside for the sake of those standards which we say we believe?

The bible speaks about many men and women of God who are took a stand of no compromise in their believes. One of them is about Daniel. Daniel along with 10,000 other Jews had just been deported to Babylon from Judea by Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel and his three friends remain faithful to God Jehovah by not submitting to the ungodly request of their captors such as eating of unclean food and worshiping foreign gods. There is price to be paid when we do not compromise on our faith. For example, Daniel has to go through Fiery Furnace and Lion’s den experience. But God is a faithful God.e was there with them during the ordeal. In fact the Bible states that God rewarded Daniel and his 3 friends for their stand of no compromise. Here are some example:

1. Giving them supernatural strength and health (Dan 1:15-16)

2. Ability to excel in their studies and making them smart (Dan 1:17-20)

3. Giving them supernatural gifts – ability to know and interpret the dream of the King. (Dan 1:17)

4. Raising them to be the top government official (Dan 2:48-49)

How can we be like Daniel and his 3 friends in this 21st Century? Here are some pointers:

1. Knowing who is our God

2. Knowing the source of our help and strength

3. Knowing that there are price to pay and there are reward awaiting for us for living an uncompromising life

Let us today strive to live a life of uncompromising faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. A quote from Blaise Pascal says "the serene, silent beauty of a holy life is the most powerful influence in the world, next to the might of God"

Honor God in all you do, and He will honor your obedience with a life that counts for eternity. "Complete surrender" to Christ is total victory.

Life Challenges

“Is it really worth it to obey God?” Nearly every Christian at some point in his journey asks that question. Life seems so hard, very confusing, very hard and packed with lots of challenges.

In the book of James 1:2-4 says "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."

James further states on God's promise for an overcomer in Chapter 1:12-15 says "Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death."

I love how honest James and the other authors of Scripture are about the struggles of ordinary faith. Scripture doesn't avoid the hard questions nor the harsh realities of living in a fallen world. The Scripture is full of interesting stories and graphically honest accounts about how things happen in a fallen world.

Often we hear throughout the Scriptures, hollow and desperate cries of the faithful who are confused asking, “How long, O Lord?” This is where we may be living today. James really shows us that he believes in a sturdy gospel, a robust gospel.

These verses remind us that because of grace we don't have to deny problems, avoid reality, explain around trials, put a smile on and act as if everything is OK. No, James exposes the rawness of human existence—a real heart with real pain and real struggle, but also a God who is awesome in His grace, incredible in His patience, and stunning in His wisdom.

Dear friends, you don't have to dress yourself up and make yourself acceptable to God. you can bring yourself to Him as you are. You can bring your questions to him. God will regularly take us where we hadn't intended to go in order to produce in us what we could not achieve on our own.

Remain steadfast in Him during the moment of life challenges for the crown of life is awaiting for you.

Big Party is a community project organized by our church, Tabernacle of Praise, Penang, to contribute something back to the community around the Jelutong area. Excellence

We live in a world where we compete to be the best in what ever we embark on. We teach our children and our teenagers the importance excellence but sometimes we miss the mark in ensuring that excellence must be obtained with a servant-hood heart. Healthy competition are good for the soul when it leads to excellence but not when it leads to striving for self-glory. We got to watch out this danger of self-glory. Self-glory to a certain degree will lead to destruction of one's soul. We got to watch out even in our christian ministry. We would be doing well in our ministry but we must be aware the danger of self-glory.

One day Christ's disciples started arguing about who would be the greatest in His kingdom. Jesus listened, then He picked up a towel and a basin of water and began to wash their feet. When He finished they were speechless, their hearts exposed, their attitudes corrected. "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who...made Himself of no reputation (Philp 2:5-7).

Jesus taught us excellence through serving others. The Son of God shows us excellence by washing the feat of his disciples. In fact the bible says in order to be the greatest, we got to be the least among all. Least here speaks about excellence with a servant's heart. It does not talk about defeat or being a failure As we approach another weekend, let us learn to serve rather than striving for self-glory.

We serve a God of Faithfulness

Our God is indeed a faithful God. He is a God who is our very present help in time of need. Deuteronomy 7:9 says "Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commands."

The Hebrew root from which the words translated "faithful" and "faithfulness" in the Old Testament are derived means "to prop" or "stay" or "support". The intransitive use of the word signifies to stay oneself or be supported. With that understanding, we can translate the word "faithful", as applied to a person, means someone a person can safely lean upon. The Greek word used in the New Testament means "trustworthy" or "to be relied upon".

We can lean on God and find rest in Him in our trouble times. He is indeed a Faithfull God and we can depend on Him. His love and commitment to us is the underpinning force in our lives. 2 Timothy 2:13 says "If we are faithless, He will remain faithful, for He cannot disown himself". He cannot deny himself; every promise He has made to us is true.

Let us therefore, have trust in His promises and throw ourselves upon His grace. He wants to take our cares, so lets give them to Him. He is forever working for our good and for His Glory.

Problems will arise in life, trials will at one time or another beset us, but Jesus will never leave us or forsake us, He is sovereign and in control of every situation in life. God is faithful, and our trust and faith in His faithfulness should be the most encouraging thing in our lives.

December Celebration

December is a month filled with lots of birthday. Last night, we had an early birthday celebration for BA (December 3rd) and Alyna a.k.a. Tiormm (December 4th). It was fun filled time at BA & Jessy's house with home cook meal plus with lots of salads and healthy dessert. My Tiormm prepared Egg curry and some other dishes and Jess with her signature salads. It is one of the best egg curry I ever tasted in Penang. We talk and talk the whole night till we almost forgotten that all of us are working on the next morning. I cherish moments like this where we are able to share openly our thoughts, our challenges and our views. Deline, if you are reading this article, you were in our thoughts and we wish you were here too.

To BA and Alyna, wishing you Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns of the Day. Want to encourage both of you with this verse from 2 Corinthians 6:2 "For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. Thank you for your friendship, for your love and for your care. You have touched many of us in your own special way. We are blessed to have you in our lives especially those of us from clubPATI. May the good Lord continue to shower you with His rich blessing in all areas of your life and He lead you to a new experience with Him.

Not forgetting Hui Ping (December 4th), Happy Birthday to you too. May the good Lord continue to shower His blessing upon your life especially in your studies and everything that you embark on and may He grants the desire of your heart according to His will and time.

The month of December also reminds us that "Unto Us A Saviour Was Born". It is Christmas season again. Christmas is not just about gifts and party but above all, it is about God came to earth as man to provide a way for us to have communion with Him. God brings Joy to the World. He love us so much that He is willing to leave His throne and come and die for us as the ultimate sacrifice for our sin so that none of perish but have eternal life through Christ Jesus. Jesus did it once for all in Calvary. Isaiah 9:6 says "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

The Bible says in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." All sin, all unrighteousness—past, present, and future—is washed away by the blood of Christ when we confess our sins and receive his cleansing salvation. Our souls are forever freed from the crushing weight of guilt, thanks to the loving sacrifice of our Savior.

So you better watch out and you better not cry for Jesus is coming back soon. Hosanna in the Highest.

Waiting for an answer.......

Few days ago, I changed my Facebook status to "still waiting for an answer". There are some answers in life that I am waiting and earnestly seeking the Lord for guidance and some breakthrough.

To my surprise, my pastor from Dunedin, New Zealand responded. Pastor Graeme's first respond was "Hey Vive, not sure of the question, but I have some ideas about the answer.....".

This morning when I open up my mail, I saw a second response from him. I am lifted in my faith with this word of encouragement from Ps. Graeme:
"Hey Vive. I better send you some thoughts by email. I will do so later today. Here is the scripture God has given me for you. ... 2 Kings 6:1 And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we dwell with you is too small for us." Big changes ahead for you both!!"

Wow, I am indeed amazed the way how God moves. He still speaks today and He confirms what He has placed in our hearts. I have not shared with Ps. Graeme what is in my heart but yet God Almighty reveal to him.

I have not met Ps. Graeme for more than 10 years now. We do email occasionally. Ps. Graeme imparted a lot of Godly leadership values into my life. He challenged me to do the impossible. I remember he inspire us to start Hope On Campus. A ministry to reach out to International students in Dunedin. Today, they have an outreach church running near the campus with about 70 members. He gave one main Sunday service for us (the International students) to run. I remember one day Ps. Graeme told the International students to run the main Sunday service and I was given the honor to share the word of God. All of us felt it was an honor and a valuable experience. For me, it was my first pulpit sharing experience. He even give us the opportunity to share communion on Sunday service. When I left NZ, I was well equipped to bring back what I have learned in my short stint in NZ and apply it in Malaysia.

I always thank God for pastors who have impacted me in many ways. Pastors like Pastor Geoffrey, Pastor Graeme, Pastor Richard & Pastor Benjamin are great leaders who have invest into my life and many others. They demonstrated Godly leadership especially a servant-heart leadership.

I am blessed and I am looking forward for the email.
